PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the increase of the sintered compact oxygen quantity by storing in vacuum or inert gas atmosphere a compact immersed in a slurry, mineral oil, synthetic oil or plant oil. SOLUTION: With a mineral oil, synthetic oil or plant oil, a fine powder for RCo5 , R2 Co17 or R-Fe-B (R is at least one of rare earth elements, including Y) rare earth permanent magnets is mixed. The mixture is wet compression- formed in a magnetic field to form a compact, it is desolvented and sintered. A storing atmosphere for the mixture or compact immersed in a mineral oil, synthetic oil or plant oil is vacuum-exhausted before changing to an inert gas atmosphere. Thus it is possible to stably produce high-performance rare earth magnets having high magnetic characteristics. |
