摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold the appropriate thickness of roll coating by grinding by immidicately detecting its change even when the thickness of the roll coating is suddenly changed by a cause of some kind during rolling. SOLUTION: The coefficient of friction between upper and lower work rolls 2, 2a is calculated from the sum load and preset rolling conditions with an arithmetic unit 81 of the coefficient of friction. When the calculated valueμc is over the set valueμd, it is judged that the thickness of roll coating is over the optimum thickness with an arithmetic unit 82 for comparing cross axes angles and, excepting during grinding the roll coating by this control, by setting the upper and lower work rolls 2, 2a to a prescribed crossed axes angle, relative slip is made to generate between the upper and lower work rolls 2, 2a and upper and lower back-up rolls 3, 3a and the roll coating is gourd. In this way, even when the thickness of the roll coating is suddenly increased by the cause of some kind during rolling, the roll coating is immediately ground by the change of the calculated valueμc, so the proper thickness of the roll coating is held.</p>
