PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solid lubricant capable of exhibiting stable lubricating characteristics in a wide temperature range and higher lubricating characteristics at a high temperature, by constituting an inorganic substance having a specific composition. SOLUTION: This lubricant constitutes a chemical composition of the formula Srx Ca(1-x) CuOy ((x) is 0.12-0.16; (y) is 2 or a value close to 2) and is obtained, for example, by blending each powder of strontium carbonate (SrCO3 ), calcium carbonate (CaCO3 ) and cuprous oxide (CuO) in a molar bending ratio [SrCO3 : CaCO3 :CuO=x:(1-x):1] corresponding to a given (x) and baking the blend at a fixed temperature. The lubricant has the crystal structure of a deficient laminar perovskite structure of infinite layer in which a CuO2 layer and a SrCa(1-x) layer are mutually piled and excellent lubricating characteristics are developed by cleavage caused by the crystal structure. |
