PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a simplified database management interface by designating the sequence of an application program data operation of a user's specification to a data file, creating a display screen task icon and executing an application program data operation. SOLUTION: A computer system 100 includes a user station 102 which communicates with a system storage device 104 via a network 106. The device 104 stores a data file. An application program includes a graphical user interface with which a user can designate the sequence of an application program function that is shown by a display screen task icon. The user can call the display screen icon so that he can execute an instruction sequence which is designated by the user.
