METHOD FOR GENERATING CONTINUOUS TONE PICTURE FROM HALFTONE PICTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make non-screen of an arbitrary halftone picture by decomposing the halftone picture into plural sub-band pictures, selectively removing at least one of noise or a pattern from a sub-band and reconstituting the plural sub-band pictures into continuous tone pictures. SOLUTION: The halftone picture from a halftone picture generator 200 or a scanner 300 is stored in a memory 120 and it is decomposed into plural sub-band picture levels in an N stage halftone picture decomposer 140 and a filter processing is executed in a sub-band noise and/or pattern filter system 150. The sub-band picture which is filter-processed is reconstituted into an initial stage halftone picture in the N stage recomposer 160. The halftone picture which is emphasized in a continuous tone picture filter system is formed. Thus, the arbitrary halftone can be non-screened in spite of a halftone process generating halftone.
