PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process for a composition which has excellent transparency, enables the printing with a water-based ink to a hydrophobic base material (substrate), particularly enables the printing through the ink jet recording technique, shows good adhesion of the composition to the substrate without blocking and gives the image of high quality without bleeding and its application to the paper for ink jet recording. SOLUTION: In an aqueous solution or dispersion containing a mixture of a water-soluble or dispersible polyester resin with an average molecular weight of 4,000-30,000 with a polyvinyl alcohol with a saponification degree of 75-100% and a polymerization degree of 500-5,000, 100-60wt.% of a hydrophilic radically polymerizable vinyl monomer and 0-40wt.% of other copolymerizable vinyl monomers are subjected to graft polymerization. |
