PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen sensor which can commence measuring accurately within a short time just after the start of an engine. SOLUTION: A porous protective layer 70 abutting on a heating element 60 reaches a high temperature within a short time since the porous protective layer 70 is heated directly by the heating element 60. And, since H2 , CO, etc. in exhaust gas just after the start of an engine arrive at a porous measuring electrode 15 via the porous protecting layer 70 which is heated, and oxidized into H2 O and CO2 in the porous protective layer 70; an oxygen sensor 100 does not indicate λ shifting (stoichiometyricaly) due to the presence of H4 and CO. Thus the oxygen sensor 100 can measure the oxygen concentration accuretely immediately after the start of an engine. |
