PURPOSE: To provide an antifouling coating composition which contains a compound represented by a specific formula, shows excellent antifouling effect against fungi, micro-algae, large-size algae, barnacles and the like and is useful for ships because the effect continues for a prolonged period of time without adverse effect on human bodies and natural environments. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises (A) a compound of the formula and, preferably, (B) a hydrolyzable binder resin containing 70-95 mole % of lactic acid residues and 5-30 mole % of caprolactone residue in the resin where the molar ratio of L-lactic acid residue/D-lactic acid residue ranges from 1-9 and the reduced viscosity if 0.5-1.5dl/g. It is preferred that the component (B) contains at least one selected from other hydroxy-acid residues than lactic acid, propylene glycol residue, succinic acid residue and glycerol residue in addition to the lactic acid residue and caprolactone residue and has a Tg ranging from -10-+20 deg.C. |
