PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a specific person who should receive printed matter to know that the printed matter addressed to the person is outputted. SOLUTION: A transmission-side host computer 1 specifies an output destination (2nd output device 4) by a print data output destination setting means 19 and also sets a message transmission destination where the print data should be received by a message transmission destination setting means 21. Then the print data are outputted on a 2nd output device 4 through a print data output means 20 and a message is sent to a message monitor means 23 of a reception- side host computer 2 through a message transmitting means 22. Then when the message monitor means 23 detects the message being addressed to the specific person, a message output means 24 displays that the message is addressed to the specific person on a CRT.
