PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cellulose acetate film which cannot be produced by the conventional methods and has excellent optical or physical properties. SOLUTION: A cellulose acetate film having an average degree of acetylation of 58.0-62.5% and a haze (in terms of a thickness of 80μm) of 0.4% or lower or a tear strength (in terms of a thickness of 80μm) of 20g or higher is obtd. by swelling cellulose acetate with an org. solvent contg. at least 50wt.% methyl acetate, cooling the resultant swollen mixture to a temp. in the range of from -100 deg.C to -10 deg.C, heating the mixture to 0-120 deg.C, and coating a support with the resultant org. solvent soln. of cellulose acetate. |
