PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester fiber not generating loops and fuzz, free from irregular fineness, and excellent in uniformity, dynamic characteristics and dyeability. SOLUTION: This polyester fiber has the following requirements (1) to (6). (1) Crystallinity (Xc): Xc>=30%; (2) the sizes of fine crystals in the axial direction (C) of the fiber and in the direction (ab) vertical to the fiber axial direction: C>=50Å, ab>=45Å; (3) crystal orientation degree (fc): fc>=90%; (4) amorphous orientation coefficient (fa): fa<=0.7; (5) the peak stress (σmax ) of thermal shrinkage stress:σmax >=0.2g/d; (6) shrinkage rate in boiling water (WSr): 6.0<=WSr(%)<=13.0.
