STRETCHABLE NONWOVEN FABRIC AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stretchable nonwoven fabric excellent in mechanical characteristics and softness, having stretchability and water soluble property and free from lowering of nonwoven fabric strength even in wet state and provide a method for producing the nonwoven fabric. SOLUTION: This nonwoven fabric is obtained by blending a synthetic short fiber comprising two or more kinds of thermoplastic polymer components different in heat shrinkage with a fiber having water absorption in (40/60) to (70/30) weight ratio of synthetic short fiber/fiber having water absorption. The synthetic short fiber is a latent crimpable fiber having either one shape among a shape in which two or more kinds of thermoplastic polymer components are parallel arranged along the length direction of yarn and shapes in which two or more kinds of thermoplastic polymer components are arranged in eccentric core-sheath structure on fiber cross section. Latent crimp of a synthetic short fiber is actualized and three-dimensional entanglement is formed among constituent fibers of the nonwoven fabric to retain the form of the nonwoven fabric.
