The invention relates to an implantable medical device comprising a housing (30) and an accelerometer means (20) adapted for detecting vibrations of said housing. The accelerometer means (20) provides a vibration signal (S, Sd) in response to said detected vibrations to a signal processing unit (40; 400) having at least one input for receiving the vibration signal (S, Sd), and at least one output for providing status values (Q1, Q2, ..., QN) related to heart activity. The signal processing unit (40; 400) is set up to simultaneously generate for each of at least two defined frequency ranges (B1, B2, ..., BN) a parameter value (C1, C2, ..., CN; V1,50, ..., V1,400) indicative of a defined quantity of the input signal, e.g. related to the amplitude or the energy of the input signal. The signal processing unit further being set up to determine at least one status value (Q1, Q2, ..., QN) in response to at least two parameter values. Said status values can be used inter alia as a control signal for a rate responsive pacemaker.
|
