A bag section (3) is formed by two interconnected fabric pieces (1,2), the connecting section of which is formed by interweaving of the same by a common thread as a textile structure. The airbag section is covered with a material which is air impermeable. The bag section is fitted to a side structure of the vehicle, such as an upright or roof side member. The two fabric pieces or the section with the common textile structure is extended beyond the connecting section to form an assembly section for fitting in the side structure.
