Disclosed is an AC/DC charger for portable telephone comprising a plug(11), a transformer(12) for voltage drop, a diode rectification portion(13), a switch(SW), a diode(D1), and a battery(VB). The plug(11) is used for a common use outlet for home. The transformer(12) for voltage drop drops an AC voltage applied through the plug(11). The diode rectification portion(13) converts the AC voltage dropped by the transformer(12) to a DC voltage. The switch(SW) selects whether to use the DC voltage through a conventional fixing tool(or different charger) or the DC voltage through the plug(11). The diode(D1) prevents the voltage applied through the switch(SW) being inverted. The battery(VB) is charged by the DC voltage through the diode(D1). Thereby, it is convenient to use for a portable telephone.
