The device has a drive motor, a connecting rod (2.1) and a crank drive (2.3). The free end of the connecting rod grips the cradle (1) or bed to be rocked. The length of the connecting rod and the eccentricity of the crank drive can be adjusted. The drive motor is continuously adjustable and has an associated actuator contg. an acoustic sensor for detecting noise from a child and a signal generator which switches the motor or influences its revolution rate for a certain type of noise.
