<p>A securing device includes an elongate member, which may be a manually operable bar (2) and means for mounting the elongate member, which may be a housing (4-6), for movement both longitudinally and rotationally. The device includes means, which may be a pin (14) and slot (12) arrangement, for guiding the movement of the elongate member. The elongate member may be a segmented component wherein one segment is caused to move asynchronously with another, for example it may involve lost motion or a time delay. The elongate member may be subject to a biasing means. The movement guiding means may include a cam and profile arrangement. Many options are disclosed for the components of the device and the movement of the elongate member. Also many options are disclosed for use of the device, for example the securing device may be a bolt type locking device operating in its own right or part of another mechanism either operating or operable by that mechanism.</p> |
