The hollow bolt (1) is designed to be welded to a workpiece by a stroke-ignited, magnetically controlled arc. The weld zone (4) with a coaxial recess (7) in the bolt bore (2) is provided with an essentially plane face region (6) oriented perpendicular to the bolt axis and an annular protrusion (5) with a pointed cross-sectional profile. The protrusion is formed by a conical inner surface (11) running from the recess (7) to the point (10) and a cylindrical outer surface (12) joining the radially outward face region (6).
