HIGH SPEED REROUTING METHOD BY USE OF VIRTUAL CHANNEL IN ATM NETWORK

The high speed rerouting method using a virtual channel in an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) network comprises the steps of: (a) determining whether a channel trouble is generated; (b) if not the channel trouble, determining whether a path trouble is generates; (c) if not the path trouble, performing a back-up algorithm through another fiber, and if the path trouble is generated, determining whether a back-up path bandwidth exists; (d) if the bandwidth exists, replacing VPI/VCI by a back-up VPI/VCI, and if does not exist, performing the back-up algorithm through another fiber; (e) if the channel trouble has been generated in the step (a), determining a back-up channel bandwidth exists; and (f) if exists in the step (e), replacing VPI/VCI by a back-up VPI/VCI, and if does not exist, performing the step (c).
