Bearing surfaces of cylinders made of aluminium are coated by a process in which a laser beam is used to form an alloy with powder additives. Preferably a thin layer of the bearing surface is melted and the powdered material is added. Preferred additives are metal or metal - ceramic mixtures. Improves wear resistance of lightweight cylinders. |
