A subscriber matcher VP monitoring apparatus of ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) exchanger for monitoring a transfer performance of cells is disclosed. The apparatus comprises: a physical layer matcher(6) for transferring the received ATM cell to an ATM physical layer processor(2); a routing processor(7) for routing the received cell from the physical layer matcher(6); a receive monitoring processor(8) for monitoring the received user cell; a header convertor(10) for converting the received interior cell(15) and transferring the converted cell to the physical layer matcher(6); and a transfer monitoring processor(9) for monitoring the performance of user's cell(19) transferred to the physical layer matcher(6).
