In the method for restricting a service in an application case of an ATM switching system having a central connection module(100) and a subscriber exchange module(150), the service restricting method against a service continuousness comprises a first step of clarifying whether a current switching system is under a congestion state or a lacking state of resources when a service request from a subscriber is inputted through the subscriber switching module(150), a second step of accepting the service request if the switching system is normal, and checking whether the requested service is a single service or a multi service if the switching system is under the congestion state or a lacking state of resources, and a third step of rejecting the service if a kind of the requested service is a single service, and if it is the multi service, checking a start point of the service, and if it is the start point, rejecting the service, and accepting the requested service if not the start point, thereby improving a quality of the service for users and effectively utilizing resources efficiently.
