When a communication terminal device (T) wants to communicate with a remote terminal over a computer network, it first sends an NSC signal to a host (H). The host holds information about procedures for connection with providers. The NSC signal is a facsimile control signal and carries information indicative of a particular provider, through which provider the network communication should be performed. Upon receiving the NSC signal, the host detects presence/absence of a transmission request for connection procedure information for the designated provider. If such a request is found, the host (H) adds the requested information to an NSS signal and sends it to the communication terminal device (T). The communication terminal device receives this information, memorizes it in an information table (T1) of the RAM (7) and executes a log-in procedure based on this memorized information such that it can communicate with the desired remote terminal through the desired provider. <IMAGE>
