A preventive and/or remedy for diseases caused by or accompanied with mitochondrial function anomalies, such as ischemic diseases, toxicosis and degenerative diseases, containing as the active ingredient a substance exhibiting the effect of stabilizing mitochondria by stabilizing the membrane potential thereof, such as 2,6-dimethylanilide of 2-oxo-1-pyrrolidinylacetic acid functioning as a benzodiazepine receptor antagonist.
