摘要

Secondary electrochemical cell with alkaline electrolyte contains at least one positive and at least one negative electrode separated by separator consisting of polyolefin fibres grafted with vinyl monomer is claimed. Cell has means of absorbing and retaining nitrogen in strongly basic medium, i.e. pH ≥ 12; the means comprising ability of separator to absorb and retain nitrogen in proportion at least 3 x 10<-4>mol. nitrogen per gram of separator for separators containing at least two polyolefins, and at least 5 x 10<-4> for separators containing only one polyolefin.
