PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a grease base oil less in deterioration at a high temperature, excellent in stability against an oxidation and low temperature flow property, low tar content and viscosity-temperature characteristics, and useful for a machine, etc., by containing a specific totally esterified phthalic acid. SOLUTION: This grease base oil contains preferably 10wt.% totally esterified phthalic acid compound obtained by performing an esterification of phthalic acid with a 8-12C linear and branched chain aliphalic monovalent mixed alcohol (30080 mol% ratio of branched chain alcohols) such as n-undecanol and isoundecanol. Further, it is preferable to contain 40-55mol% n-undecanol in the aliphatic monovalent mixed alcohol. |
