An additive containing a chelating agent is added independently from a sodium hydroxide solution to the flow of cleaning liquor before or in the liquor tank. A method for continuous in-place (CIP) cleaning uses a circulating cleaning solution that contains an alkali hydroxide and an additive comprises a chelating agent, surfactants and/or polymers with good emulsifying and dispersion properties. The alkali hydroxide used is sodium hydroxide, optionally with some potassium hydroxide added, the hydroxide component being added in the form of a 35-50 % solution. The additive is added via a separate pipe connected to the tank for the cleaning liquor, i.e. to the cleaning liquor pipe no more than several metres before the tank, either directly to the flow of cleaning liquor into the tank or directly into the tank itself. |
