PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic polymer particle which contains a magnetic substance and has carboxyl groups increased on the surfaces by suspension polymerization, by mixing a radically polymerizable vinyl monomer with a magnetic substance. SOLUTION: This polymer particle is obtained by mixing (A) 100 pts.wt. of radically polymerizable monomers containing 1-20wt.% of an unsaturated carboxylic acid [for example, (meth)acrylic acid] and (B) 5-200 pts.wt. of a magnetic substance (for example, Fe3 O4 ), dispersing them in water and polymerizing them with (C) an oil-soluble polymerization initiator (for example, benzoyl peroxide) and treating the formed particle with an organic base such as an amine and/or a water-soluble solvent such as acetone. |
