<p>In fibrous fleece prodn. an aq. slurry of fibres is applied in an installation with a moving porous conveyor on which a fleece is formed. A binding agent is added to the fleece which is then dried and rolled for transport. A first aq. suspension of fibres is prepd. without a binding agent, at a concn. relatively to that of the suspension which is applied to the porous conveyor, such, that it requires a tenfold dilution to bring it to the required max. of 0.6%. This is effected by feeding the first suspension via a branch into the suction line of a centrifugal pump delivering an aqueous dilution of the fibrous suspension to the bottom end of the vertical section of a slurry feeder. Some distance from its bottom, the slurry feeder has a duct projecting at right angles to an obliquely inclined open end. At this point the watery suspension is deposited on to a porous conveyor moving upwards and parallel to the oblique outlet of the feeder; the fleece thus formed being transferred to the binding agent applicator plant. Irrespective of the nature and quality of the fibres used, an irregularity of the fibres of such a high degree can be achieved that a coherent, self-supporting fleece without binding agents can be transferred without breakagea of further processing.</p> |
