NEW USE OF GAMMA-GLUTAMYLTRANSPEPTIDASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an accelerating agent for differentiating osteoclasts useful for therapeutic agent for osteoporosis of low rotative type by bringing γ- glutamyltranspeptidase (γ-GTP) or a γ-GTP derivative having accelerating activity for differentiating osteoclasts as an effective ingredient. SOLUTION: This accelerating agent for differentiating osteoclasts contains γ-GTP or a γ-GTP derivative having accelerating activity for differentiating osteoclasts as an effective ingredient. Gamma-GTP cab be produced by cloning the cDNA library of a vertebrate animal with a primer or probe specific to γ-GTP, introducing manifested vector inserted with cDNA obtained by the cloning to cells of and culturing the cells. The objective accelerating agent is preferably administered intravenously. The agent can be administered 0.0001-100mg/day dose until the condition of a patient is improved. An inhibitor from osteoclast differentiation-accelerating activity useful for curing osteoporosis of high rotative type can be screened by using above mentioned γ-GTP, etc.
