PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel microorganism of Deleya sp. ASE1315 useful for environmental preservation with which processing of waste water or recovery of selenium can be easily performed by using a microorganism of Deleya species which has an ability to reduce a selenate (or selenite) ion into an element state of selenium. SOLUTION: This novel microorganism Deleya sp ASE1315 belongs to a Deleya species and has an ability to reduce selenate ion and selenite ion into an element state of selenium. This microorganism is deposited as FERM P-15754. It is preferable that the microorganism is cultured in a water-based medium containing selenate (selenite) ion under aerobic conditions to reduce the selenate (selenite) ion into an element state of selenium and then the element state of selenium is recovered. |
