PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage of a gate as a side end of a sheet makes contact with a gate side surface and to improve reliability of a device by setting a sheet guide surface of the gate arranged on both ends lower than a sheet guide surface of the other gate. SOLUTION: A bill guide surface is set lower than another gate 1 byδ, concerning a gate having a case when the gate side surface and the side edge of the bill make contact with each other out of the gates 1, 11, 12 supported by a shaft 2 free to oscillate so that the side edge of the bill does not make contact with each other. A clearance of more thanδ1 is made between the bill guide surface of gates of both ends and the bills to carry. When the bill is carried in a normal state, a side edge of the bill passes without making contact with gate side surfaces on both ends of the bill. Consequently, damage of the gate is not made, and it is possible to realize a carrier passage change over gate of high reliability.
