PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus detector capable of extending a defocus detection range while securing focus detecting accuracy. SOLUTION: This focus detector is provided with a visual field mask 3 having a visual field aperture equivalent to a focus detection area on the scheduled focal surface of a photographing lens 1 between the scheduled focal surface of the lens 1 and a diaphragm mask 5; and paired photoelectric conversion element trains 7A and 7B are positioned so that inverted projected images 20A and 20B to the scheduled focal surface 2 of the photoelectric conversion element trains 7A and 7B may be deviated each other in the moving direction of an imageformation pattern on the photoelectric conversion element trains 7A and 7B. |
