PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focusing device for confocal microscope capable of realizing a stable automatic focusing action. SOLUTION: A non-confocal optical system 8 whose depth of focus is deeper than that of a confocal optical system 7 is previously prepared. Based on a sample image obtained by the optical system 8, a position X desired to be focused and the moving amount for every time of a sample 9 within the moving range in an optical axis direction are set. By switching the optical system to the optical system 7, image data corresponding to the position X as for the sample image of every movement corresponding to the previously set moving amount of every time is stored in a line memory 13. Based on the stored image data, a focusing position corresponding to the maximum luminance is arithmetically operated by an arithmetic circuit 14. |
