PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant or a functional fluid composition excellent in abrasion resistance, extreme-pressure property and adaptability to seal, regardless of low phosphorus level by including a major amount of oil having lubricating viscosity and a specific heterocyclic compound. SOLUTION: This lubricant or functional fluid comprises (A) a major amount of oil having lubricating viscosity, (B) a small amount of compound of formula I [X<1> to X<3> are each O or S and X<2> and X<3> are each NR<1> (R<1> is H or hydrocarbyl); G<1> to G<4> are each R<2> , OR<2> or R<3> OR<2> (R<2> is R<1> ; R<3> is hydrocarbylene or hydrocarbylidene)]. Furthermore, the functional fluid composition preferably further contains (C) an acylated nitrogen-containing compound having a substituent group comprising >=10 aliphatic carbon atoms, a phosphorus-containing compound, a compound, etc., of formula II (R<1> R<4> are each H or hydrocarbyl; X is O or S; (a) is 1 or 2; Z is hydrocarbyl, a hetero group, etc.), etc. |
