PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polypeptide by utilizing a new DNA encoding a polypeptide of a human granulocyte colony stimulating factor having a specific amino acid sequence and capable of giving a highly active human granulocyte colony stimulating factor useful for the treatment and prevention of an infections disease, the treatment of a leukemia, etc., in a large amount and at a low cost. SOLUTION: This new peptide is expressed by formula I (R<1> is a peptidyl group of formula II, etc., or an amino acid residue of Ser; R<2> is an amino acid residue selected from a group consisting of Cys, Ser, Ala and Thr) and obtained by using a new DNA encoding the new polypeptide having a human granulocyte colony stimulating activity, which is useful for the production of the highly active human granulocyte colony stimulating factor expected to manifest a therapeutic effect to the prevention and treatment of an infectious disease and the therapeutic effect a leukemia, and for the utilization as a medicine, in a large amount and at a low cost. The DNA is obtained by replacing or eliminating at least one of the DNA's encoding the human granulocyte colony stimulating factor by a region specific mutation method, etc. |
