CONTROLLER FOR LASER BEAM WELDING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for maintaining welding quality properly and improvably in laser beam welding in which welding proceeds with a laser beam penetrating and leaking to the rear side of a weld zone. SOLUTION: The controller is equipped with a means 18 for detecting a leakage laser beam and a means 34 for controlling laser welding conditions, with the detecting means 18 detecting the power of a laser beam that penetratingly leaks to the rear side of an object to be welded, and with the controlling means 34 comparing the range of the leakage laser beam power at the time of preset proper welding to the power detected by the detecting means 18 and, if the detected power is off the preset proper range, automatically adjusting the welding conditions so that the detected leakage laser beam power is within the preset proper range.
