PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which copes with a positional or cutting dislocation of a sheet of transfer paper for forming pleasant images thereon. SOLUTION: Sensors 30a, 30b, 31a and 31b accurately detect positional dislocations of a sheet of transfer paper 16 at its leading edge and side edges. On the basis of detected values, a decision control part 32 decides whether the transfer paper 16 is to be fed toward a transfer belt 3 with its posture being held as it is, to be fed toward the transfer belt 3 with its posture being corrected by means of a resist unit 14A through a drive part 43 which gives preference to the correction of a dislocation at the side edges of the transfer paper 16 or to be discharged while not being printed at all after stopping forming images, or an alarm indicative of a positional error of the transfer paper is to be displayed on a display 34. A process corresponding to the decision is thereafter executed to thereby form quality and pleasant full-color images reproducing a document corresponding to a positional or cutting dislocation of the transfer paper, or in the case where pleasant images are not to be formed discharge the transfer paper 16 not being printed at all so as to be reused and then give an alarm indicative of a positional error of the transfer paper. That control allows the formation of full-color images reproducing a document on a sheet of transfer paper 16 through its effective use.
