PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a methyl methacrylate (co)polymer excellent in heat stability, produced by bulk polymerization or solution polymerization, having a molecular weight controlled by a mercaptan compound and exhibiting a specific sulfur content. SOLUTION: This methyl methacrylate homopolymer or copolymer of methyl methacrylate with <=15wt.% methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate or butyl acrylate is produced by bulk polymerization or solution polymerization and has a molecular weight adjusted by a mercaptan compound and has a sulfur content represented by the formula [sulfur content (wt.%) in the polymer/32]/ number-average molecular weight of polymer = 50-100(wt.%)}. |
