PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer for deciding which of a monochromatic ink cartridge and a color cartridge is mounted in the printer without affecting an optically sensing operation in a housing of the printer. SOLUTION: Type of ink of an ink case placed in a cartridge case 1 can be visually effectively decided from a transparent window 9 provided at a block cover of a printer unit 8, and a different color operation at the time of printing is prevented. External light introduced from the window 9 into the unit 8 is shielded by a rib 18 and not hence arrived at an ink end sensor 13. Before actual printing operation, a sensing operation of a mark to be sensed printed on a recording sheet by ink in the case 1 by an ink end sensor 13 is stably and effectively conducted without influence of the light, and hence the end can be accurately sensed, and the printing operation of high quality can be always conducted. |
