PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the handling work of a recording medium without the need of forcibly setting the insertion direction of a card to a card processing machine in one direction. SOLUTION: On the magnetic stripe of a magnetic card 10, preamble data 21, forward-direction judging data 25, STX 24, recording and reproduction data 23, backward direction judging data 26, and postamble data 22 are recorded sequentially as shown by the arrow C. The forward direction judging data 25 and backward direction judging data 26 are data suquences of logical values 0 and 1 regarding a specific combination and the reverse array of the backward direction judging data 26 do not match with the forward array of the forward direction judging data 25. For the purpose, the read direction of the magnetic data can be specified by detecting either of the forward direction judging data 25 in the forward direction following the preamble data 21 and the backward direction judging data 26 in the backward direction following the postamble data 22. |
