The vehicle seat comprises a seat and a back each having a metallic frame (2a,4a). The back frame is pivoted on the seat frame about a horizontal transverse axis (X) by an articulation (9). This articulation enables adjustment of the back inclination and its subsequent locking. The back frame has a first side upright (7) connected to the seat frame by the articulation mechanism. The back frame has a second upright (11), less resistant than the first, which has a tubular portion (12) fixed to a web (13) which is articulated on the seat frame. There are two horizontal cross members (16,17) connecting the two uprights. The frame comprises a U folded tube (18) which has a base constituting a portion of the second upright tubular portion and two branches constituting the two cross members.
