The machine is towed behind a tractor, and consists of a common chassis (6), which carries a mechanism for raising and centralising the canes. There is a mechanism for cutting off the feet of the canes, and a mechanism for grading the canes, that is to cut off the heads to produce canes of the required length. There is also a mechanism to carry the canes to the storage system. The chassis is formed in one part as a L-shaped structure, consisting of a transverse beam (7), which carries the towing system. It is attached to a longitudinal beam (10), which is also attached to the tractor at its front end, by means of a mechanism, which allows for height adjustment. The second part of the chassis is formed as an inverted U-shaped structure, forming a stride bridge piece (12), which extends at an angle from the L-shaped structure and is fitted at its extremity with a driven wheel (5).
