The invention is a warning device for sudden automobile stops providing a distinguished warning to the traffics following. The device comprises a 1st (20) and a 2nd (22) brake switch which are turned on/off sequentially at a time interval by the hinged(15) brake pedal(10) as they are connected respectively on the upper and lower part of the brake pedal(10), thus the 1st switch (20) being turned on first and the 2nd switch(22) turned on by the continual application of the brake pedal(10); and a time detector(30) receiving the switching signals from the switches(20,22) and sending them to the electronic controller(40) which counts the number of clocks from the clock generator(50) during the time interval from the time detector(30), judges it is a sudden stop, and sends warning signals to the brake lamp(60) and emergency flasher(70). The invention prevents rear-end collisions.
