A manufacturing method is introduced for small stones with excellent water absorption capacity and air permeability using industrial wastes containing amorphous porous silicon dioxide. The industrial wastes containing amorphous porous silicon dioxide are mixed with loess or rubble stone diatom earth; the mixture is kneaded with water; then formed into small balls of 0.3-1.5 cm in diameter; and burnt at 800-1000 deg. C; and cooled for usage in orchid pots. This reduces costand does not contaminate the environment.
