Production of oligomeric olefin(s) from hydrocarbon mixture

Production of oligomeric olefins from a hydrocarbon mixture containing olefin and paraffinic hydrocarbons, comprises degassing the starting stream in the presence of boron trifluoride and a catalytically active complex compound of boron trifluoride and an organic proton donor and recycling the released boron trifluoride for polymerisation. The novelty is that distillation is used for degassing, in which the complex compound and/or a variant of this complex compound with lower boron trifluoride content forms optionally together with the paraffinic hydrocarbons and non-polymerised lower amounts of olefins as liquid non-miscible head product. This complex compound is recycled after phase separation for polymerisation. On distillation, a condensate is obtained from olefine oligomers containing traces of less than 1 mol. ppm boron trifluoride.
