The electric contact can be fitted into a chamber of a connector housing. The electric contact has a contacting region for electrically contacting a complementary part and has a connection region for electrically connecting with an electric lead or conductor. The electric contact has at least one locking tongue (6). The locking tongue (6) has a free end (7). The free end (7), as seen in the plugging direction, has at least one forward tongue region (8) and at least one rear tongue region (9). The forward tongue region (8) of the free end (7) is sharp. The rear tongue region (9) of the free end (7) is truncated. Preferably the contact is made in one part from a punched and shaped metal sheet. Alternatively the contact may be formed in several parts.
