Lateral ingot casting machine

A lateral ingot casting machine (1) has numerous dispenser channels (6) leading off in a sideways direction (3) from an axial channel (4) supplying softenable plastic material (5) to torpedo caps (7) arranged around the machine periphery. The caps are connected to axial ingot moulds (9) mounted inside a frame (8). A work tool plate (11) in the frame has a continuous chamber (12) extending around its periphery for receiving the ingot mould, which can be moved with its torpedo cap as a single unit in an axial direction. Removable sealed connector pieces (13, 14) link the chamber to a heating coil (15) housed in a space (16) between the ingot mould and connector pieces.The caps can be moved using a manually lockable, non-rotatable piston (53) which can be moved in the same axial direction as the plastic material supply channel. The piston engages with the cap via a movement transfer part (55) in the torpedo that can be moved along an inclined path (54).
