The balcony comprises a panel and an enclosing frame (18) which is fixable to the posts (12). It also has a treading surface (34,56) and a substructure (32,42) fixed on the frame for the treading surface. The frame consists of a metallic hollow section. The substructure comprises a crossbeam and a sheet with trapezoidal corrugations (42) on which a plastics trough (46) is supported. The treading surface has a lath construction. The balcony has a pressure compensating plate (44) between the sheet with trapezoidal corrugations and the trough. The treading surface is formed from plates (56) which are laid in the trough.
