The component has angled flanges at the ends, which are fastened to front mudguards. An outward projecting holder (13) is formed on each flange (12). Using the elasticity of the trim component, each holder is fitted into an aperture (14) in the associated wall section (15) of a mudguard, and fastened in it. Each holder has a non-circular, preferably mainly rectangular sectional profile, and the aperture is shaped correspondingly. Each holder has a projection (17) and an undercut (18), and an end section (19) of the aperture fits into the undercut.
